Community Support
Our passion is to build strong communities, and provide resources for long-term sustainable growth. AW Foundation is mindful of the impact development projects have on the nearby communitie and strives to ensure affected villages see minimal disruptions while benefiting from our initiatives.
When the construction of the New Paletwa Bridge began, AW Foundation thoroughly considered the socio-economic impacts the construction would have on the nearby communities before finalizing the bridge’s design and construction. The bridge was constructed for both passenger vehicles and heavy vehicle utilization to allow a smoother flow of commodities.
During the upgrade of Angumaw – Maungdaw road, AW Foundation went the extra mile to provide free healthcare services and donated medical supplies to nearby villages, ensuring an all-around improvement of livelihoods.
Infrastructure is the backbone of Myanmar. AW Foundation supports infrastructure projects through financial donations, as well as tapping into our network of partners to build infrastructure which improves the lives of the people of Myanmar.
In December 2020, AW Foundation completed the construction of the New Paletwa Bridge, replacing the old Paletwa Bridge and creating a shorter, safer and efficient access between the Kayin State and Taunggoo Town. Spanning 243 metres with both vehicles and pedestrian lanes, the bridge enabled local communities to expand border trade with Thailand, and benefitted the development of the region and Myanmar.
Other notable projects include the Angumaw – Maungdaw road development, the single biggest not-for-profit project undertaken by AW Foundation. Along with the road upgrade, AW Foundation constructed a new jetty big enough for three vessels to simultaneously dock for loading and unloading cargo, reconstructed of the nearby village dam for storing fresh water, helped in the maintenance of old school buildings and libraries, and provided free healthcare services and donated medical supplies to the villages along the road.
